History was made on Saturday 28th March 2009 when the
“First call” was made on Megatech Net works
newly installed CDMA 1X 2000 next-generation network. The event took
place at the corporate head office of the Company in Kano city,
located in the northwestern part of Nigeria. The occasion also
featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding between
Megatech Networks and the Chinese
Telecommunication vendor, ZTE Corporation for the expansion of
Megatech services to other parts of
Nigeria.
The mobile service was launched with Nigeria’s former Minister of
Commerce, and
later, Federal Capital territory (FCT) Abuja Dr. Aliyu Moddibo Umar
making the “first call”. He commended the owners of the company for
their efforts saying it will assist in generating employment and
help in alleviating the economic hardships among the people of the
region.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of
Megatech Networks, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu
Abubakar said the company will bring in new innovations in the
telecom industry that are not presently available, and at lesser
cost to its customers.
In her address, the Managing Director of the company, Ms. Megal
Bruce disclosed that full installation and integration of the CDMA
network had been completed and would soon be ready for commercial
launch. She added that Megatech
had been granted a unified access license which the company would
effectively utilize to take its rightful position among the best
players in the Nigerian telecommunications industry. |
